Gumby and Pokey do! Here is a picture of two of my favorite characters from childhood, Gumby and Pokey, on top of a Le Bleu 5 gallon bottle, full of ultra pure, steam distilled water!

Who drinks Le Bleu? If you do, please send me your photos with your Le Bleu for publication here and on the Coastal Carolina Water website: www.coastalcarolinawater.com. Email your pictures to tkugler@coastalcarolinawater.com.

We had another deluge this weekend at the Outer Banks, and it truly was a water world adventure! My family has a small hunting boat that sank a month ago during a heavy rainstorm, and, after arising from the depths, it had a bilge pump installed in it this weekend. It appears to be working. (Fortunately, the motor survived the original sinking.)

We had a wonderful event at my church, Mt. Zion United Methodist, this past Saturday. We had a formal dinner for our graduating seniors, and I was privileged to be a waitress. I now have a new found respect for wait staff - it's hard work! It was organized by Mike Farr, one of our Le Bleu customers, who is featured on our website under the About Us tab and Our Clients. He did a great job of herding us cats.

Coming down to the Outer Banks? Visit Rose's Farm market in Grandy, NC on Rt. 158 in Currituck for great produce for your vacation and for some awesome fresh shrimp and scallops. Laura, the owner, also carries Le Bleu. And try some boiled peanuts when you take a peach to the beach!

Tameron T. In a 100-year period, a water molecule spends 98 years in the ocean, 20 months as ice, about 2 weeks in lakes and rivers, and less than a week in the atmosphere.

To find out more about water, visit the About Us tab on our website: www.coastalcarolinawater.com.

It is so hot here in the Outer Banks this week! The Le Bleu bottles are flying off the racks in our warehouse. If you have visited the Outer Banks and had an opportunity to try Le Bleu and can't live without it now, you can get bottled water delivery in Hampton Roads, VA! We have bottled water delivery to Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Hampton, and Newport News. We would love to service your home or office with Le Bleu ultra pure, steam distilled water.

Our Lab, Rebel, loves Le Bleu water. It's the only thing he gets in his dish. In fact, he's stopped drinking out of puddles and ponds (although he still can't stay away from the water sprinklers). Many vets recommend our water for pets that have skin disorders and allergies. Le Bleu has no chemicals going into your pet's body that could aggravate underlying health conditions.

I don't know how we managed it, but our dog is the touchiest Lab we've ever had. He jumps at everything he's unsure of. It's pretty funny to take him out for a potty break at night and watch him jump straight up in the air like an armadillo when a long blade of grass tickles him! He will finally get an opportunity to go goose/duck hunting this season on the Currituck Sound. One thing he's not afraid of are birds.

Want to find out more about where I live? Visit www.visitcurrituck.com for a wealth of information. And if you're coming to visit, check out the Welcome Center in Moyock where they will be sure to load you up with info.

Tameron T. No nasty Neanderthal cooties! It's been a while since I've posted to this blog - and boy - has it been a long year. With the economy going south, literally and figuratively, my Southern water world has been trying to stay afloat. I am proud to say that my company is still here providing the purest water to be found. If you want to try us out, we have bottled water delivery to the Hampton Roads VA area, so you can get Le Bleu utlra pure bottled water in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Newport News and Hampton. Live in the Outer Banks? We deliver bottled water on the huge sandbar known as the Outer Banks from Northern Corolla all the way down to Ocracoke Island. Yes, we take the ferry to deliver to our loyal customers in Ocracoke!

We also deliver bottled water to all businesses and residences in Currituck and Camden counties. And yes, we take the ferry to Knotts Island to take care of our customers there. What we won't do for Le Bleu!

I've spent the last year watching my lab grow up and my son mature. I have involved myself in many networking groups and have found this a wonderful way to market myself and my product. I love, really love, The Career Engineers, in Hampton Roads. The website to connect with founder, Francina Harrison, is www.tcenow.com. Check it out and participate in some of the wonderful networking events she sponsors.

My company also put up a new website, www.coastalcarolinawater.com, utilizing the wonderful services of Fred West and his team at Bradshaw-Kimbrel Technology Group in Portsmouth, VA. You can visit Fred at www.bradshaw-kimbrel.com. BKTG is attentive, creative and very affordable for a small business.

On the home front, I've been involved with the Currituck Wild Goose Rotary Club. If you are ever in Currituck, come visit us on Thursday mornings at 7:30 am at BJ's Carolina Cafe in Jarvisburg, NC. Come on by, have a full breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast, biscuits & gravy, and fresh fruit, and we'll even perform our famous Wild Goose "Honk"!

Tameron T. Drinking too much water can quickly lead to water intoxication, which occurs when water dilutes the sodium level in the bloodstream and causes an imbalance of water in the brain.

Down here in the Outer Banks, we love our water. We love to swim in it, look at it, sail on it, fish in it and drink it. However, I don't know of an instance of water intoxication occuring in this area (although I have read of this condition before in the newspapers). We also like to drink a little beer on those hot, hot summer days. So, if you're traveling to the Outer Banks, make sure to stop in Jarvisburg, NC on Hwy 158 going to the beach and sample some of the micro-brewed beer at the Weeping Radish Eco Farm and Brewery. Uli, the owner and biermeister, would love to see you! Take a tour of the farm and brewery, and while you're sampling the different beers, the kids can watch the goats! Visit the website at www.weepingradish.com. See you there! When it rains in the South, it doesn't just rain, it literally pours in buckets. Rain hits the windshield of your car like someone threw a pail of water on it. Less experienced drivers will pull of to the side of the road when this happens as the windshield wipers literally cannot keep up with the deluge. A drizzle in the South is just a pleasant cooling diversion. Our idea of a "good rain" is a waterfall. My friend, Deborah, got to experience a rainstorm during her "dialect" trip. She was a bit astounded, enough to comment on the intensity. Mind you, living in Southern California does not expose her often to rainfall in general.

Speaking of Deborah's visit, two other test subjects for her trusty tape recorder were my parents, Jack and Janice Thornton. Dad was able to give Deborah a true Mississippi Delta accent. He was born and raised in Tunica County, MS (about 50 miles from Memphis, TN) in the heart of cotton country. As a boy, Dad tells us that shoes were only for winter, and the worse part of having to visit the "outhouse" were the spiders lurking in the dark places. Needless to say, he did not like to hearken to the call of nature in the middle of the night. (Just for the record, we do all have indoor plumbing - this was a long time ago.) My father is also an Ear, Nose and Throat physician, so I hear that Deborah and dad also had a lively discussion on "nodes" in the throat during their taped interview. Sorry I missed that....

My mom, Janice, was born and raised in Hertford, NC, a northeastern NC town. See answer at end of the post.

My best friend recently came from California to visit me at Water World. Deborah is a vocal and dialect coach for actors. We were brought together by her daughter, Rachel, and my son, Thornton, when they were infants at the same daycare center. Deborah told me on first meeting that we were going to be best friends, and I guessed I just believed her! Anyway, Deborah's visit was to gather northeastern NC dialects for a book she has decided to write after years of teaching. We loaded up the car with LeBleu water and off we went to meet some wonderful NC inhabitants and get them speaking on tape.

Our first meeting was with Omie Tillett, an old-timer from the Manteo/Wanchese area of the Outer Banks. What a wonderful man! He was a bit shy about reading a piece Deborah had picked out for taping purposes, so Deborah let him pick his own topic. We spent an hour with Omie while he testified about his faith, and we learned to say, "Exoited!"

Our next meeting was with Mikey Daniels and Winkie Silver, two dashing and entertaining men from Wanchese. Mikey, along with 14 siblings, owns a large fishing operation in Wanchese, the Wanchese Fish Company. (Can you imagine their board meeting?) While Deborah was taping Mikey, I sat out on the front porch of Winkie's home and learned alot about his family and the area. Winkie (real name, Winston) has two brothers named Possum (John) and Bo, and his family has also resided on the Banks for decades. Winkie, by the way, is a loyal LeBleu customer!

On the way home, we took the time to stop by the Harbinger Lavendar Farm in Currituck County. Don't miss this attraction if you are every in the area during blooming season. A field of lavendar is a beautiful site: http://www.harbingerlavender.com/.

Deborah was able to attend a morning meeting of my Rotary Club, the Currituck Wild Goose Rotary, during her visit. This is held at one of my favorite restaurants in Currituck and the Outer Banks, BJ's Cafe, on Thursday mornings. My friend, Wanda Beasley, and her husband, BJ, are the owners; and let me tell you, they can make some BBQ! They also have other wonderful items on the menu, but my favorite is biscuits and sausage gravy (hardens the arteries just looking at it, but it is some kind of wonderful!). I knew Wanda and Deborah were going to be kindred spirits, because Wanda was eyeing Deborah's orange leather purse before they were introduced. They hit it off so well it made me jealous! We went back that Sunday to get Wanda's voice on tape. Her family, the Midgettes, have been on the banks for well over 100 years, so she has an authentic mainland accent. My 15 year old, Thornton, thinks she walks on water. Visit her restaurant at http://www.bjncbbq.com/ and stop by on your way to the Outer Banks.

Deborah also taped one of our LeBleu drivers and water deliverers, Randy Barco. Randy's family has the town of Barco, NC named after them. Needless to say, his family goes back a long way. Randy, as a young man, served as a guide for duck hunters who came to the Currituck County area during the hunting season. I also have the priviledge to sing in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church choir with Randy. (I still owe him a beer for letting Deborah tape his voice.) Come back for more of the Dialect Water Adventure!

Answer: Men have a higher content of water than women due to a woman's higher body fat.

Tameron T. Just a quick little water tidbit before I continue: Did you know that most drinking water, unless it is distilled, contains arsenic? A bit of a frightening statistic if you ask me. According to a 1999 study by the National Academy of Sciences, arsenic in drinking water causes bladder, lung and skin cancer, and may cause kidney and liver cancer. The study also found that arsenic harms the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as heart and blood vessels, and causes serious skin problems. It also may cause birth defects and reproductive problems. And it gets even more scary. Drinking water provided by most water utility companies meets or falls below the current national standard for arsenic, which is 50 parts per billion (ppb). That standard, however, was established in 1942, before health officials knew that arsenic causes cancer. According to National Academy of Sciences estimates, one out of 100 people who drink water containing 50 parts per billion will get cancer (based on drinking two liters of water per day over the course of a lifetime). That's an extremely high cancer risk. The EPA, which sets the arsenic standard, normally assigns standards for toxins and contaminants that represent no more than a one-in-10,000 risk factor for cancer. Arsenic is not purged by the body, but is cumulative, that is why long-term exposure is so risky. Here at Coastal Carolina Water, we have one customer who has suffered arsenic poisoning and can only drink LeBleu Ultra Pure steam distilled water because it is free of this element. Remember, not all bottled waters are pure. If you can't get LeBleu Ultra Pure steam distilled water in your area, make sure that you are drinking a distilled water product or have investigated the arsenic quantity in your tap water. For more info, visit the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) at www.nrdc.org/water/drinking/qarsenic.asp.

Let me tell you about some wonderful people I have met in my water world journey. The folks at the Historic Jarvisburg Colored School Association come to mind. We just donated 2 cases of LeBleu water for a fundraising event last weekend in Currituck County. This association is working hard to restore and preserve a very important piece of northeastern NC history. Back in 1867, the CurrituckBoard of Commissioners decided to re-establish new townships for voting registration and tax purposes. Each township had its own churches and it seems that some of the churches in each township took on the responsibility of operating a school for the newly freed Colored people next to the churches. There are existing records that indicate that the Jarvisburg School was opened in 1867 in Powells Point, N.C. The school was moved to its present site during the 1890s. The old building was last expanded to its current size as a school in 1911. The Colored Schools were consolidated in the 1950s and the old buildings were sold by the county as surplus. All the schools were integrated in the 1960s and this building would no longer serve as a school. To see how the restoration is progressing and for more info on this exciting project, visit http://www.historicjarvisburgcoloredschool.com/.

Visit my blog again to find out more about the humans and animals that drink LeBleu Ultra Pure water!

Tameron T. Well, let me begin by stating that I am a Southerner who has been living in Northern climes for the past 12 years with my husband, Anthony, an upstate New Yorker. It is cold...very cold. We finally decided to relocate back to North Carolina, my home state. I have a large family in northeastern North Carolina, and we found a water distributorship, LeBleu Ultra Pure Bottled Water, available in the Outer Banks area. Water, sun, the beach, family nearby - it was perfect! Unfortunately, I had a son in his last year of middle school and a son in his last year of high school. So, we decided to buy the distributorship and Anthony would relocate and live with my parents for a year while I stayed in Wethersfield, CT until the boys finished school. After graduation in 2007, the rest of the crew headed South in July. Oh, did I mention my mother-in-law was part of the "crew"?

We settled in Grandy in Currituck County, NC about 10 minutes from our office. The only trouble was getting my husband adjusted to not having my mother cooking and cleaning for him. He readily adapted to having his dinner on the table when he returned from work and having his lunch made and ready for him in the morning to take to work. Things changed when he left the in-law nest. He eats alot more frozen food now days.

Why "pure" water adventures? When we bought the business, I didn't know anything about water. All I knew was that the water coming out of my tap in Grandy was not the best. It had a very strong taste and smell. I started drinking our water, LeBleu. What a difference! LeBleu is an ultra pure, steam distilled water manufactured in Advance, NC. It starts as municipal water that LeBleu distills and ozonates. Steam distillation kills harmful bacteria and viruses, removes virtually all foreign particles, inorganic minerals, heavy metals, chlorine and most volatile organic chemicals (VOCs). Here's how it works:

Water is heated in a chamber and turned into vapor (steam).

This water vapor rises leaving impurities behind in the boiling chamber.

The purified vapor then enters a condenser where it is cooled and returned to the liquid state.

The water is then ozonated which gives the water a lively taste and also acts as an antibacterial.

Steam distillation is widely recognized as the single most effective method of purification. At Le Bleu, not only do we steam distill our water but we perform a 5-step purification process. Le Bleu ultra pure water is just that - ULTRA PURE. In fact, it has no expiration date because there is nothing organic in the water that can grow in the bottle.

So, here we are at the beginning of the pure water adventure.

Tameron T.
